Kracov was commissioned by the Holocaust Museum of St Petersburg, Florida to create the world-famous sculpture that depicts the Tasmanian Devil tearing the roof off of a boxcar to release hundreds of hand-painted butterflies.   value of a child’s life. Kracov also spent four years working on his tribute to those whose lives were lost during 9/11. The metal wall sculpture depicts a New York City Skyline and, where the two towners once stood, now a stream of Kracov’s coloured butterflies rise soaring into the sky.
In his own words, the artist states that, “Who I am defines what I create, and what I create is the definition of who I am”. To these eyes, The Book of Life reveals an artist whose vision is to bring colour and light to places and lives sometimes caste in shadow. And along the way inspiring all who view his visions to open themselves up to their own imaginations, smile and embrace the
vivid world we live in.
